Morphing Cote

Morphing Cote is a serious game that my team and I developed in a day as part of a Game Design & Education module where we had to develope serious games for hypothetical clients and pitch it to them against other teams.

Morphing Cote is a 2D side-scrolling puzzle platformer developed by my team and I using the Unity 2D game engine.

​

For this project, we were assigned "Coga Cola" (Coca Cola) as our client and our job was to develop a game to promote their new drink "Cote Lite" (Coca Cola Light).

Role in Project : Designer

Character & Artificial Intelligence

Our character, Cola, was depicted and illustrated as a female due to the target audience of more females being health-conscious about the drinks that they consume. Cola's body shape and proportions will change when consuming the "Cote Lite" and the other less healthy drinks in the game to show the different effects of the drinks on the human body.

The enemies in the game are the common diseases that drinking unhealthy drinks can cause such as diabetes, high blood pressure and breathing difficulties.

Environment

The environment for the game's first level was drawn and illustrated to take place inside a Coca Cola factory. This is to educate the audience and players about where and how drinks from "Coga Cola" were created. This also serves as a good starting point design-wise as it is a good place to introduce all the core mechanics of the game and is a good location where we could place many props relating to "Coga Cola" that would still make the mos sense.

Props, Assets & User Interface

The props and assets that can be found in the game were created to replicate "Coga Cola's" already existing products.

Even with the distinct artstyle of the game, we made sure that the props could be distinguished by players as the real life "Coga Cola" products.
